Growing up, Tara was introduced to the outdoors through the Duke of Edinburgh Award at school, an experience that sparked a lifelong passion for adventure, challenge, and personal development. Since then, travel and the outdoors have shaped both her career and her outlook on life. She believes deeply in the power of exploration to build confidence, resilience, and practical skills in young people, values that have guided her work across leadership roles in the British Army, the adventure travel sector, and youth development.
Since becoming an Expedition Leader in 2016, Tara has led teams on transformative journeys across Nepal, Morocco, Costa Rica, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Ecuador. Leading groups abroad brings her endless pleasure, especially in witnessing the skills young people develop and carry forward into their future endeavours, often sparking their own love for travel.
Alongside leading student expeditions, she has travelled widely on personal adventures, from spending her early years in Malaysia to mountaineering in the Alps, summiting the Matterhorn among other peaks. She has undertaken self-led trips through South Africa, Europe, and Southeast Asia. For Tara, adventure is not only about the destinations but also about the people, cultures, and moments of growth found along the way.
Outside of work, she stays as active as possible. Whether walking her dog, climbing, or keeping fit with CrossFit, she finds her energy in movement and the outdoors always with another trip in the pipeline.
