True Adventure is a full member of the EPA, a membership organisation for the overseas youth expedition sector and the awarding body for the Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC) badge. True Adventure is a founding member of this network of industry professionals that consult on a wide range of issues in the field. As members we agree to abide by the EPA Code of Practice. Our Chairman, Mike Trueman and our Operations Director Mark Brazier have both chaired EPA in the past, and Mark now sits on its Technical Committee to review all industry operating practices.
True Adventure holds the prestigious Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC) Quality Badge, specifically designed for overseas expeditions. This nationally recognised badge is designed to bring together all existing safety and quality badges into one easily identifiable mark of high standards. It is only awarded after a rigorous external assessment, providing confidence and evidence of competence.
True Adventure expeditions are fully protected by ATOL. ATOL financially protects all flights and air packages sold by UK tour operators, offering such protection for nearly 30 million passengers a year. ATOL is managed by the Civil Aviation Authority which is Government backed and has been providing financial protection to air travellers for nearly 30 years. True Adventure holds an ATOL license and our registration number is 9302.
All the holidays on this website are financially protected by the ATOL scheme. When you pay you will be supplied with an ATOL Certificate. Please ask for it and check to ensure that everything you booked (flights, hotels and other services) is listed on it. Please see our booking conditions for further information or for more information about financial protection and the ATOL Certificate go to: www.caa.co.uk.
Holding this licence indicates that True Adventure has been inspected by the Adventure Activities Licensing Service on behalf of the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority, with particular attention being paid to safety management systems. To be approved, True Adventure must demonstrate compliance with nationally accepted standards of good practice in the delivery of adventure activities to young people, within the UK, with due regard to the benefits and risks of the activity. This is necessary for True Adventure to run training weekends and other adventurous activities.
We are trusted by some of the world’s leading organisations to deal with complex issues around climate and sustainability. They rely on us to deliver results that are good for the world and their business.
With over 150 years’ collective experience in the global carbon markets and climate change sector, we make a real difference for the world. We helped shape the first voluntary carbon markets, and pioneered the use of carbon finance for community-based development projects.
In 2007, we achieved our first 1 million tonnes of CO2 reductions, and were acquired by investment bank J.P. Morgan the following year. In 2011, ClimateCare bought the business back. Since then, we’ve deployed over $100 million, working with our partners to create positive social and environmental outcomes.
